"The traditional friendship between China and North Korea is a precious treasure for our two parties, two countries and our peoples. China is willing to work with North Korea to take friendly cooperation to new heights," Dai told the delegation.
The diplomat also expressed "confidence that under the leadership of Kim Jong-un, the First Secretary of the Workers Party of Korea, the Korean party, government and people will constantly score new successes in building a strong and prosperous country”.
The surprising development came just over a week after China had expressed concern over North Korea’s recent rocket launch attempt. The move is seen as a ‘reaffirmation of ties’ of sorts and shows how determined Beijing is to maintain its diplomatic relationship with Pyongyang’s young leadership.
